Fun Stuff

Here's a bunch of interesting things I did, do, and will do just for the fun of it, and in no particular order.

  Guitaring

Other than playing CD's and MP3's, my musical talents are limited to the guitar. I used to be into heavy metal only, but nowadays I do more alternative & rock. In this photo, I'm on the right playing rhythm & lead guitar at a talent show at Nortel, where I worked at the time. The song was "If you could only see" by Tonic. Audience was over 500, so that's why I was trying not to look forward. :-)

  Art

This is a toy train I painted for some friends in Austin.

The toy train theme continues on the opposing wall.

A Shelby Cobra I've been painting for my nephews in their playroom. It's much further along than in this photo, but it's still not complete... need to add some tire smoke and exhaust flames now.

This is a pumpkin I carved for my cousins for Halloween 2006.

I'll consider this art. A friend was teaching me photography (with my Canon T-70 35mm SLR), and I captured this image of the Space Needle in Seattle from Queen Anne Hill. This image has been scanned from an 8x10 photo so it's lost some quality in the conversion.

  Skydiving

This is the second time (of three times) that I've jumped out of an airplane. This one was in Homestead, FL, which is just outside of Miami. Fine, I admit I look really stupid with that cone-hat on. :)

  Other

This is why I'm happy to have left the corporate world. :) Source unknown.

Here's an animation I created on a Commodore Amiga some years ago, while learning about ray-tracing. It took me a week to layout the wireframe model, 12 days to render, and another few hours to stitch the animation together. Today's solid-modeling software and faster processors would make this a 1- or 2-day project.

How to pimp your ride on a budget. Source unknown, cause I got it in a forwarded email.

Need to tow 2 cars at once? Here's an efficient way to do it without even renting a tow truck. I took this photo somewhere in Mississippi or Louisana on I-10 westbound.

Take my word for it -- don't reheat boiled eggs in a microwave!
